We had 17 goal attempts, Newcastle had 6. We had 6 shots on target, Newcastle had 3. And it was enough to score three goals and defeat us (it has to be said) unexpectedly. After Dirk Kuyt's equalizer the most of the fans thought there's only one team going to win the match. We looked like we were capable of scoring at any point, but we didn't. Newcastle made use of their chances, we stopped pressing, lost our concentration and there you have it, the result says it the best: Newcastle 3, Liverpool 1.
"It's a major setback," said Hodgson . "A major blow."
I could not say it better. Once again we gave away a win and points. We could have ended up sixth ... we could, we should but we did not.
