MOTD # 25: Rafael Nadal

What can I say about Rafael Nadal yet, what has not been said? What is one to "outstanding", "brilliant," "brilliant," are added "not of this world"? Whatever you say it ... it will not meet the Spaniard. Perhaps the Swiss Rafael bring extra a little better to the point: "mega super hip cool". Not? It expresses still not quite everything. Finding the right name for me is just as difficult to defeat as for Rafa's opponents to him.

Then I present the facts. See itself and judge for themselves that which has reached Nadal speaks for itself and for him.

Rafael (born June 3, 1986 in Manacor, Mallorca) was of 18 August 2008 to 6th July 2009, the No. 1 world tennis ranking. After winning the Roland Garros 2010, he took on 7 June, 2010 the top position in ATP ranking.

He won in his career nine Grand Slam titles, five times at Roland Garros, Wimbledon twice and once each at the Australian Open and the U.S. Open. In the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing Nadal also won the individual competition.
The well-known especially as a clay court specialist player holds the record the longest winning streak on clay: Between April 2005 and May 2007, he won 81 games in a row before losing in the final of the Hamburg Masters tournament against Roger Federer .

Nadal's favorite surface is clay, a surface on which it is hard to beat. Often he is therefore called the Sand King. His playing style is characterized by a powerful and aggressive baseline tennis. Pre-and backhand strokes are with, played for English and South American characteristic, heavy topspin. This he achieved among others by his extreme forehand grip Western grip and high acceleration of the clubhead. His two-handed backhand is one of the toughest in professional tennis.

Nadal's game is the left hand, although he is right handed. Responsible for this is his coach and uncle Toni Nadal, who believed, Rafael Nadal's two-handed backhand would benefit from a strong right arm. Also of note is the extraordinary athleticism of Majorcan and here in particular his great speed and agility that allows him often, even difficult to rotate balls on the backhand side, and instead use his stronger forehand stroke. Nadal is considered to be fearless and has an exceptionally keen anticipation assets. These capabilities are the enemies of the Spaniard too much active and high-risk game forced.

service game when Nadal is in contrast to many of its competitors, not on speed but on a skillful placement of the balls. Nadal is pursuing the strategy of being as extreme angle and put his opponent under pressure. Nadal was often in the past criticized for his behavior during service, before he performs a ritual sequence of movement that takes a relatively long time. This leads to the annoyance of some opponents, as they are disturbed in their game rhythm.

Tennis is his life, his passion, his home and what he does best. And what does he like no one else can on this planet. I can already hear the fans ... Roger Federer schhhhhhhh! Just take it easy. Let's say you finally: Roger is a brilliant tennis player, but the Rafael Rafael is the ... ... yes that is just so awesome at what he does with the tennis racket and makes that a lack of enthusiasm for words. And when it does.

Rafael Nadal is just great. Super. Brilliant. Ingenious ... You see, I am repeating myself again and ... I could go on like this forever. Viva Rafaaaa
